A recent report from the police auditor focuses extensively on the Dylan Noble shooting. Noble was shot in late June by police. Their body camera footage of the incident was released on July 13. Noble was unarmed at the time of the shooting and the incident not only remains under investigation but has also served as an additional catalyst fueling tensions between police and the communities they serve throughout the nation.
Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer is adamant: Fresno PD responded appropriately in the Noble case. The recent report, however, seems to question the importance the police place on investigating these types of cases. Police auditor Richard Rasmussen stated in the report that investigations into these kinds of shootings should be a priority for police investigators. If the public believes that the police do not prioritize these kinds of investigations, tension between the police and the public may be exacerbated regardless of the facts.
